Pictures Taken Around Kearsney Parks, Dover in Kent

By Marcus The Photographer

Kearsney Parks is one of Dover’s most beautiful and peaceful outdoor locations, with lakes, bridges, gardens, mature trees, open green spaces and natural detail throughout the park.

As a Dover photographer, I enjoy capturing places that help tell the town's wider story. Kearsney Parks offers a softer and more peaceful side of Dover, away from the drama of the castle, coastline and harbour, while still feeling deeply connected to local life.

This collection of Kearsney Parks photographs captures the park’s natural beauty, seasonal character and calm atmosphere throughout the year.

How to Get to Kearsney Parks

Kearsney Parks is easy to reach from Dover and the surrounding villages.

The main car park is at Kearsney Abbey, Alkham Road, Temple Ewell, Dover, Kent, CT16 3EB.

Kearsney railway station is only a short walk away, and local buses stop close to the parks, making it a simple place to visit by car, train or bus.

Once there, you can enjoy Kearsney Abbey, Russell Gardens and Bushy Ruff, all set within one of Dover’s most peaceful and photogenic green spaces.

For Marcus The Photographer, capturing images of Kearsney Parks transcends mere photography; it's about immortalising the feeling of serenity and connection. The park reveals a gentler aspect of Dover, distinct from the bustling coastline, harbour, and castle, yet still showcases the stunning diversity of the town's beautiful landscape.

Birds and Wildlife at Kearsney Parks

One of the simple pleasures of visiting Kearsney Parks is watching the birdlife around the lakes and streams. The water attracts ducks, swans and other water birds, making the parks feel alive throughout the year.

The mute swans are among the most recognisable sights at Kearsney Abbey, often seen gliding across the ornamental lakes or resting near the water’s edge. Mallard ducks are also a familiar part of the park, adding colour and movement to the lakes, especially when the light catches the water.

Look a little closer, and you may also spot coots and moorhens moving through the reeds and shallower areas. Along the streams and quieter parts of Russell Gardens, grey wagtails and even kingfishers can sometimes be seen, adding a flash of colour for those who take their time and look carefully.

For photographers, these birds bring real character to Kearsney Parks. From swans on still water to ducks in soft light, the wildlife adds charm, movement and a natural story to one of Dover’s most peaceful green spaces.
