Ashleigh and Kieran’s wedding at Winters Barns was a beautiful winter celebration filled with warmth, emotion, and real connection. I had the privilege of photographing their day for around 14 hours, which meant I was able to capture the full story from the quiet moments of preparation in the morning right through to the atmosphere and energy of the evening reception.
Winter weddings have a special feel of their own, and this one was no exception. There was a calm, intimate atmosphere throughout the day, balanced with so much joy, laughter, and excitement from the people around them. Winters Barns was the perfect setting, with its rustic character, warm tones, and beautiful spaces that worked so well for both natural storytelling and more elegant portraits.
The bridal party looked incredible, and the soft winter light added a beautiful feel to the photographs. These moments are never just about getting ready — they are about the emotion, the friendships, the nerves, the laughter, and the small details that often become some of the most meaningful memories later on.
One of the real advantages of being there for 14 hours was being able to photograph the whole journey rather than just selected parts of it. From the calm of the morning preparations to the celebration and energy of the evening, the final gallery tells the full story of the day as it naturally unfolded.
Once everyone arrived at Winters Barns, the atmosphere really came to life. One of the things that stood out most about Ashleigh and Kieran’s wedding was how relaxed and natural it all felt. Nothing felt forced. The smiles, the reactions, the little glances, and the emotion all came naturally, which is exactly what makes wedding photography feel timeless and real.
Winters Barns worked beautifully as a winter wedding venue. It offered warmth, character, and a wonderful mix of indoor and outdoor spaces, which is especially valuable when the light fades quickly and the weather can be less predictable. That gave us lots of flexibility throughout the day and helped create a gallery with real variety.
The couple portraits were a real highlight. Ashleigh and Kieran were wonderful to photograph — relaxed, connected, and completely themselves. That always makes a difference, because the best wedding photographs are the ones that feel honest.
The result was a set of portraits that felt romantic, elegant, and full of feeling, while still staying true to who they are. Some of my favourite images from the day came from those quieter moments where they were simply able to pause, be together, and enjoy a little space in the middle of such a big day.
Throughout the wedding, I focused on capturing the genuine story as it unfolded. That included the details, the ceremony, the portraits, the people, and all the in-between moments that often become some of the most treasured photographs of all.
From the bridal preparations and bridesmaids’ portraits to the wedding cake, evening reception, and those natural guest moments, every part of the day added something to the final story. This is what I love about full-day coverage — it gives the wedding space to breathe and allows the gallery to reflect the day's real atmosphere from beginning to end.
As the day moved into the evening, the atmosphere shifted from intimate and emotional to lively and full of fun. This is always one of my favourite parts of a wedding to photograph, because the energy changes and people relax into the celebration.
The evening photographs added another layer to Ashleigh and Kieran’s story, showing the fun, personality, and atmosphere that rounded the day off perfectly. It was the ideal ending to a beautiful winter wedding.
Ashleigh and Kieran’s wedding at Winters Barns was a brilliant example of why I love photographing weddings. It was personal, relaxed, emotional, and full of meaningful moments from beginning to end.
Winter weddings like this prove that you do not need bright summer sunshine to create beautiful wedding photographs. You just need the right people, the right atmosphere, and a story worth capturing.
If you are planning your own wedding at Winters Barns, in Kent, or anywhere across Dover and the surrounding areas, and you are looking for natural, romantic, and real wedding photography, I would love to hear from you.
"Marcus captured our wedding day, and I couldn’t have asked for a more thorough and brilliant photographer.
Marcus was there from before we arrived until late at night, making sure he captured every part of our special day. His attention to detail and dedication are second to none; we have the most beautiful photos to cherish forever.
For a wedding day, a photographer is one of the most critical aspects, and we’re over the moon that we went with Marcus! Thank you so much for everything!!"
