My Wedding Photographers Checklist

My Photographer Checklist

Your wedding day is filled with moments that pass in the blink of an eye. My role is to preserve those precious memories—the heartfelt, the unexpected, and the beautifully candid. These are often the images couples treasure most.

I’ve put together a list of six essential areas of photography to help you understand what I’ll be looking for throughout your day. It’s also a helpful guide as you choose the wedding photography package that feels right for you.

Detail Photography

Here are the high-level shots for a professional wedding photographer to capture with some detail.

  • Wedding invitations, programmes, special signs, & gifts.

  • Wedding rings.

  • Wedding dresses/suits.

  • Outfit accessories like shoes, cuff links, or jewellery.

  • Bouquet, corsages, boutonnieres.

  • Memory pictures, tokens and special memory items that some couples have.

Preparation

Preparation photographs hinge on the specific venue and where guests will be getting ready for the wedding. Lately, many couples have chosen to have all activities at a single wedding location. This setup allows me to navigate between groups and capture stunning photographs seamlessly.

Some of the most cherished photos are taken during this preparation phase, treasured by the couple as they look back on their shared moments of preparation, laughter, joy, and unforgettable experiences.

  • Location, rooms and items around.

  • Bridal party getting ready.

  • Groomsmen up to mischief.

  • The bride, wedding dress and accessories.

  • Wedding outfits, dressers, suits and accessories.

  • Hairdressers and makeup artists at work.

  • The bride and bridesmaids, flower girls, page boys and ushers.

  • Wedding professionals, whilst going about their preparations and work.

  • Items around the venue, signage, memories and memorable items around the wedding venue.
