The Dover Lifeboat Station

The City of London II - Severn Class

The Dover lifeboat is strategically located in the western section of the bustling Port of Dover, a site known for its vibrant maritime activities and historic significance.

Established in the year 1837, the lifeboat has been diligently fulfilling its crucial mission of saving lives at sea from the port ever since that unforgettable day. Now proudly integrated as an essential part of the RNLI charity, it plays a highly significant role not only in maritime safety but also as a cherished pillar within the local community, continuously fostering a spirit of vigilance and togetherness among its members and volunteers.

The Severn class lifeboat is the largest all-weather lifeboat operated by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, measuring 17.3 meters and introduced in 1996. Named after the River Severn, it is known for its 25-knot speed, 125 nautical mile range, and ability to operate in extreme sea conditions.

Also captured is the Lifeboat 17-03, relief lifeboat at the Dover Lifeboat Station.

This beautiful historic park, recognised as the first of its kind in Dover, dates back to the enchanting Victorian era. Nestled on the hillside just beneath the majestic Dover Castle, it offers a wide range of amenities perfect for both leisurely pursuits and sporting activities.
